GALE RANCH PARENTS:

PLEASE HELP US IMPROVE OUR SCHOOL

PARKING LOT SAFETY…

In an effort to address some safety concerns and to improve the traffic flow at Gale Ranch, we are asking for your help. Our parking lot is ample size to move all dropping off and picking-up traffic each day, however it can get congested if drivers are impatient, distracted or in a hurry. These guidelines are designed to help with the safety for all the students, staff and guests to Gale Ranch Middle School. Please observe the following guidelines at all times:

Speed Limit – SLOW DOWN!

Please adhere to the 5 mph speed limit to ensure the safety of all our students arriving to and leaving from school each day.

Drop-off / Pick-up – BE PATIENT!

When entering from Main Branch Road, please proceed slowly and patiently while staying in the closest lane to the school (painted yellow). We have A LOT of room along the yellow curb for drop-off and pick-up, but to move traffic efficiently every driver must pull forward as far as possible in the yellow zone. Once space becomes available you will be directed to pull forward to fill the drop-off lane. STUDENTS ARE TO BE DROPPED OFF ONLY ALONG THE YELLOW CURB OR FROM THE PARKING LOT NEAR THE SIDEWALK OR CROSSWALK.

NOTE: Please do not enter into the center lane and then attempt to merge into the yellow zone.

If your student has a large musical instrument, back-pack or item that requires the access to the car’s rear doors or trunk, please park in the parking lot to access the back of your car. Further, if you need to get out of your car for any reason, please park the car in the parking lot. Students must always use the crosswalk from the parking lot.

Crosswalk Safety- PLEASE HAVE STUDENTS USE PAINTED CROSSWALKS TO CROSS THE STREET

From Gale Ranch there are crosswalks across Bollinger Canyon Road at the intersections of Main Branch as well as South Monarch Road. There are also crosswalks at the round-a-bout at the top of Main Branch Road. Please direct your students to use the crosswalks at the round-a-bout or the crosswalks at Bollinger Canyon to cross the street.

NOTE: Mrs. Ward stressed the importance of using the crosswalks to the student body Friday during lunch. Please reinforce the importance with your students to follow the guidelines for using crosswalks.

Exiting School – WATCH FOR STUDENTS AT ALL TIMES

When exiting Gale Ranch, proceed to the South Monarch Road Exit. You can either turn left to return to Main Branch Road or right to continue up South Monarch towards Bollinger Canyon. Please observe all posted traffic rules regarding speed in a school / residential zone (25 mph) as well as posted NO Parking zones. Please do not make a U-Turn on South Monarch after exiting the school.

Bicycle / Scooter / Skateboard Safety – OBSERVE RULES OF THE ROAD & HELMET LAWS

Students should always walk their bikes in the crosswalks when crossing the street. Drivers need to pay close attention to student traffic when making turns and when near crosswalks.

Safety Odds and Ends – REMINDERS…

Please do not use your cell phone while driving around Gale Ranch Middle School. The area is a NO CELL PHONE ZONE!
