Fairy Tales

Our fairytale unit will begin in March.   We begin by taking notes and discussing fairy tale conventions.  After reading several fairy tales in class, students create a story map, incorporating the fairy tale plot form.  Each student is responsible for creating their own fairytale from scratch.

This is a time of extensive writing, revising, editing, and creativity.  Our fairytales are composed on the computer, which involves intermediate formatting skills, and  following specific directions.  Format instructions should be printed from this website and brought to class.  Access to a computer is required on a daily basis and all deadlines must be met promptly.  This is a good time to check computers for ink, paper, and make sure they are in running condition.  Arrangements should be made ahead of time if students need to use a friend's, neighbor's, or library computer.  "My computer is out of ink," is not an excuse!

Please refer to the March calendar on my website for all due dates.
