Invitation from the Superintendent’s Office
We need your input on "The Next Level" for our schools!
Our community has grown accustomed to a high level of academic performance in our schools. The upcoming community forums provide an opportunity to think creatively about ways to make this outstanding school district even better, and to revisit the values, mission and priorities of our school district.
We need your input at these forums around issues such as:
- How to best prepare students for success in a changing competitive, global environment, and what this means for teaching and learning.
- Technology and expansion of world language education.
- A possible restructuring of the senior year experience, allowing these students more time off campus in order to have a job, engage in community service or political advocacy, and/or take college classes.
- How to best meet all of our facilities needs in terms of growth, modernization of older facilities and energy conservation.
The forums will be scheduled at each high school. Parents, staff, students and other community members may attend any forum that works best with their schedule. The community forums will be at 6:30 p.m. (staff forums at 4:00 p.m.). The dates and locations of the forums are:
- Wednesday, November 4, San Ramon Valley High School
- Monday, November 9, Dougherty Valley High School
- Thursday, November 12, Monte Vista High School
- Monday November 16, California High School

8th Grade News
Health Challenge Exam
What is the Health Challenge Test? The Health Challenge Exam is a test which is available to 8th grade students only. The exam consists of 106 questions. The exam questions come directly from the New Glencoe Health textbook. Those students who pass the Exam will automatically have their passing grade entered on their official high school transcript. The students can then choose another elective in lieu of “Health”, a mandatory class for freshmen. This exam is offered only once. The 8th grade students, who are interested in taking the Health Challenge Exam, can pick up the Petition in the Counseling office from Mrs. Cliff - October 15th through Dec 4th. Exam will be Wednesday, December 9, 3:00 PM., at Dougherty Valley High School.
8th Grade Yearbook Ads - Deadline has been extended to November 6th.
Attention 8th grade parents!!!!
Due to the overwhelming response we have been able to negotiate the addition of pages to our yearbook to accommodate the yearbook dedications. The addition of the pages also gave us a reprieve on the deadline to submit to our publisher. So you still have time to honor your 8th grader with a dedication in the first yearbook to include a promoting class.
Each ad will be 1/8 of a page and includes a photo of your child with a special message by you. This will be a special memory for your student as they are part of the very first promoting class from Gale Ranch Middle School! The cost is $40 cash or check (payable to Gale Ranch Middle School Yearbook) and can be dropped off to the box in the main office. The photo and message can be submitted online at www.hjeshare.com using the school’s code 2009786. The deadline to submit has been extended to Friday, November 6th. Make a special memory for your 8 th grade student by creating a dedication for them in the yearbook! If you have any questions, please email Amy Hill at ahill@srvusd.net
