Gale Ranch News

Today, being the 8th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks on our country. Our leadership students facilitated a moment of silence and read a speech about the historical event. Our flags flew at half-mast in honor of the many whose lives were lost.

Safety & Security on Campus : PLEASE READ AND HEED!! Our campus parking lot, drop off and pick up areas and the surrounding streets are becoming increasingly hazardous!! A child was struck this week by a car turning right as he was crossing in the crosswalk on Bollinger Canyon. A car was racing through our parking lot this afternoon and almost hit a student. Cars are stacking up and double parking at the exit awaiting students, causing traffic jams, and agitated drivers. PLEASE take your time, pay attention, follow directions, and abide by the laws and posted signs. Review with your children the importance of looking both ways before crossing, crossing ONLY at crosswalks, and watching for drivers who are not paying attention. Someone is going to be seriously hurt if this situation does not improve immediately. Thank you for caring about all of our children!!

Bike/Scooter/Skateboard Racks
The bike rack area is for the student’s use and must be used to lock up their vehicles. Scooters and skateboards must be locked in the special rack .. or placed in the center racks, away from the fences.  (skateboards and scooters can fit through the bars and damage the bars as well.)  We do our best to help keep these safe, however, the school is not responsible in the event of loss or damage to these items.
School Loop
Schoolloop, the automated assignment, grading and communication system is up and running. Returning students and parents can access their accounts using the same information as last year. New students have been registering during science classes. Parents, please register yourself by going to www.grms.schoolloop.com and follow the directions to register as a parent.   You will need your student’s id number to complete the registration. For security reasons we cannot give out this number on the telephone or via email. Your student should have the number memorized, so please ask. If your student does not know the number, either he/she or you may come into the office to obtain it.
Note: All registration requests require verification and approval by the GRMS office staff. The approval process takes approximately 24 hours from your registration time. You will not be able to see grades until approved. The name and email address used to register must match the student’s records. Please check the day following your registration. If you are not yet approved, please call the office to determine the reason behind the delay.

Our front office has a literature rack containing informational flyers about school and outside activities. These could include sports, support groups, scholastic and other school groups. Please stop by periodically to peruse the rack. Your students should be checking it often too! Currently there is information about Lacrosse, CJSF, GIA, PTSA, ED Fund, La Asia, Office Depot and more!
School Lunches & Mealtime
Our food services staff will once again be planning and preparing nutritious and appetizing lunches.  Next week’s menu is posted to the Gale Ranch website.   The price for the complete lunch is $4.00 this year and all meals include an entree, choice of milk, fresh and canned fruits and vegetables from the salad bar.
This year we are striving to have a cashless operation in the cafeteria. This is possible with the Mealtime lunch system. Money is simply deposited into your student’s account and they can then purchase lunch using their student id. You can deposit via the website or simply bring a check made out to SRVUSD into the office and it will be deposited into your student’s account.

Parenting tip - Relieve back to school stress
  • Your student may feel a combination of excitement, sadness, happiness and anxiety. What can you do?
1.      Schedule one on one time with your child. Share stories from your middle school experience
2.      Know your child’s stressors. If your family is going through changes let the teacher or school counselor know.
3.      Be positive. If your child struggled last year, it doesn’t mean he’s going to have the same year this year.
