Gale Ranch News

Welcome to our second year here at Gale Ranch Middle School.  We are geared up for the new school year to begin and hope you join us in our excitement to make this year even better than our first!

Gryphon Camp on Thursday was deemed a success with our new students getting a feel for the school and a bit of knowledge about middle school life.  Our leadership team, under the direction of Ms Murphy did a fine job preparing and facilitating the day.  Thank you to Rene Matsumoto and our PTSA for providing refreshments for the morning. Our guest speaker, Norm Hull, entertained while providing some character lessons at the same time.  Although class schedules are usually provided at the camp, we were unable to do so this year.  The increase in our enrollment steadily over the past 2 weeks require modifications to the master schedule, which in turn delays our ability to produce individual class schedules.  Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to produce quality schedules.

All schedules will be available on Tuesday, August 25th beginning at 7:30am in the multipupose room.  School starts at 8:15am, which should allow ample time for all to recieve schedules and make their way to class.  School staff will be available during passing periods to help students find their way.  The front office is always available to help as well.  Within a short time all will be comfortable making their way around campus.

The first day of school is a minimum day.  We start at 8:15am with an 11:40am dismissal.  Lunch will not be served on this first day of school.  Wednesday, August 26th will be our first adjusted Wednesday schedule.  School begins at 9:06am.  Dismissal time is 2:45pm.  Be sure your student arrives on time!

Principal's Welcome Coffee - You are invited.
On Thursday, August 27th, the PTSA will host a Principal's Welcome Coffee for parents.  Join us at  8:30 in MPR for an informal meeting with us.

Security on Campus
A reminder that Gale Ranch is a closed. secure campus.  All visitors (including volunteers)  must check in at the front office and receive a visitor's badge/pass prior to entering the campus proper.  Thank you for helping us keep our campus safe for all.

Washington DC Trip - 7th & 8th Grade Students
Informational meeting for students and parents interested in learning more about this exciting trip.  One hour before back to school night.  We will meet in the Library at 6:00pm.  Any questions may be directed to Mrs. George at pgeorge@srvusd.net.  Please note:  this is an independent trip and not sponsored by the San Ramon Valley Unified School District.

School Lunches
Our food services staff will once again be planning and preparing nutritious and appetizing lunches.  Once the menus have been planned, you will be able to access the menu on the Gale Ranch website,  The price for the complete lunch is $4.00 this year and all meals include an entre, choice of milk, fresh and canned fruits and vegetables from the salad bar.

Fall Picture Day - September 2nd
All students will have their pictures taken during their scheduled PE Class.  These pictures will produce the student ID card.  If you would like to purchase a picture package, be sure to complete an order form, with payment and send it to school with your student.  The student will present the order form and payment to the photographer at the time the picture is taken.  Additional picture packets are available in the front office.

Gale Ranch Education Fund
On behalf of Gale Ranch Middle School Education Fund, I would like to personally thank you for your generous donations during registration.  Your contributions have made it possible for us to raise approximately $82,000. All the money raised will be used to directly reduce class sizes by including additional sections in the curriculum.  You contributions will directly enhance the quality of education for your children.

For the 2009-2010 academic school year, your contributions have added six (6) additional sections to the Master Schedule.  This has only been possible because of thoughtful contributions from parents like you.  Please feel proud of yourselves by stepping up to help out during the state funding crisis and the harsh economic climate we are all currently experiencing.  You have made a difference.

During Monday’s registration, there was a glitch in our credit card machine upload resulting in the credit cards not being charged. This occurred only for Monday’s donation by credit card.  Board members have called those parents who’s credit cards were affected and have rerun most of the cards.  If the Board members were unable to reach you, please drop off a check at the school office, or bring your credit card to “Back to School Night” September 3rd so we can rerun your cards.  We’ll have a booth in a prominent location to collect your donation.

Thank you,

Education Fund Board Members
